I'm 56 and in that time, England have produced very few great players - I would love to see your take on who should be included in that inner circle - great is an overused word, and I'm encouraged that you don't include Boycott or Pietersen in the group. As for naming a Series after Thorpe....a fine player, but nowhere near as good as either.
I am the same age and I am not sure England have had a great batsman in that time - apart from Root. As a general rule, I take a long term Test average of 50 as evidence of greatness.
